SMOKE DETECTOR CERTIFICATION AGREEMENT

Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 148, 26 E provides:

. . .For buildings or structures occupied in whole or in part for residential purposes and containing a maximum of two dwelling units, one approved smoke detector shall be installed on each level of habitation and on the basement level. Such approved smoke detector shall be installed outside of each separate sleeping area. For buildings or structures occupied in whole or in part for residential purposes and containing not less than three or more than five dwelling units, an approved smoke detector shall be installed in each dwelling unit outside each separate area and in all common hallways of said residential building or structure. . .

The undersigned, being the respective Buyer(s) and Seller(s) of the above-captioned property hereby represent and warrant to Fleet Mortgage ("Lender") that we have read and received a copy (see Exhibit "A" on reverse side) of the law concerning the installation of smoke detectors in residential buildings or structures (M.G.L.A., Chapter 148, Section 26E and 26F); that the Seller(s) has installed the approved smoke detectors in the above-captioned premises in operating condition at the required locations prior to this date of sale or transfer, all in compliance with the law.

THE SELLER ACKNOWLEDGES THAT HE/SHE HAS GIVEN A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE WITH THE LAW SIGNED BY THE HEAD OF THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT TO THE CLOSING ATTORNEY.
